Privacy Policy

Your travel details should be handled with care.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Muse & Miles collects, why it is collected, how it is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.

Effective date: July 23, 2026

1. Who we are

Muse & Miles is an independent travel website offering travel stories, hotel and vacation-rental features, destination content, trip-submission features, and paid trip-planning services.

For privacy questions or requests, contact us at mnm@museandmilestravel.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following situations:

Information you provide directly

  • Contact inquiries: name, email address, company or property name, inquiry type, subject, and message.
  • Trip submissions: contact information, destination and dates, travel story, stay and food details, profile or media links, and the permissions you select.
  • Trip-planning requests: contact details, departure point, destinations, dates, number of travellers, budget, accommodation and transport preferences, interests, dietary or accessibility needs, existing bookings, public links, and other information needed to prepare a quote and itinerary.
  • Communications: information contained in emails, replies, feedback, support messages, and collaboration requests.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting, security, and infrastructure providers may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, requested pages, timestamps, referral source, and diagnostic or security logs.

Sensitive information

Please do not submit payment-card numbers, passwords, passport numbers, government identification numbers, or copies of identity documents through our forms. Where trip-planning details include dietary, accessibility, mobility, or health-related needs, provide only what is reasonably necessary for the requested planning service.

3. How we use information

We may use personal information to:

  • Respond to questions, contact requests, and partnership inquiries.
  • Review trip submissions and communicate about possible publication.
  • Assess trip-planning requests, prepare quotes, provide planning services, and deliver itineraries.
  • Send transactional emails and service confirmations.
  • Send newsletters or promotional messages when you have chosen to subscribe. You may unsubscribe at any time.
  • Protect the website, users, and services from abuse, fraud, and security threats.
  • Maintain business, tax, accounting, and legal records.
  • Improve website performance, content, and user experience.

Muse & Miles does not currently collect payment-card details through the website. If online payments are introduced, payment information will be processed by a third-party payment provider, and this policy will be updated as needed.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Muse & Miles does not currently provide website account login or use an account-session cookie. The travel blog uses first-party browser storage for privacy-friendly traffic measurement. A randomly generated anonymous visitor identifier may be stored in local storage, and session storage may be used to avoid repeatedly counting the same page visit or engagement event.

The traffic counter records limited information such as the requested travel page, event type, and a protected hash derived from the anonymous visitor identifier. It is not designed to collect names, email addresses, account details, or the contents of forms. Where supported, the tracker respects browser Do Not Track settings.

We do not currently use advertising pixels or cross-context behavioral advertising technologies directly on Muse & Miles. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any consent controls required by applicable law.

When you follow an affiliate or external link, the destination website may place its own cookies or use tracking technologies under its own privacy and cookie policies.

6. How information is shared

We do not sell personal information for money. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate the website and deliver requested services, including:

  • Supabase: database and privacy-friendly traffic analytics infrastructure.
  • Resend: transactional email delivery.
  • Google Workspace: business email and communication.
  • Hosting, CDN, and security providers: website delivery, reliability, logs, and protection.
  • Professional advisers: legal, tax, accounting, insurance, or technical advisers when reasonably necessary.

We may also disclose information when required by law, court order, valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, and prevent fraud or misuse.

8. International data transfers

Muse & Miles and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Privacy laws in those countries may differ. Where required, we rely on appropriate contractual, consent-based, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

9. Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:

  • General inquiries, trip submissions, and unsuccessful planning inquiries generally for up to 24 months after the last meaningful communication, unless a longer period is needed for a dispute, permission record, or legal requirement.
  • Paid-service, transaction, tax, and accounting records for the period required by applicable law, which may be several years.
  • Marketing subscription information until you unsubscribe, plus a limited suppression record so we can respect the request.
  • Anonymous or pseudonymous traffic records for as long as reasonably needed to measure website use, maintain aggregate trends, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot the traffic counter.
  • Security and technical logs for a limited period appropriate to troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and website security.

Information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups until those backups are overwritten under normal retention cycles.

10. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. These include restricted access, secure service providers, HTTPS where deployed, access controls, and environment variables for confidential credentials.

No website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to personal information you submitted through Muse & Miles.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights to:

  • Request access to personal information held about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of certain personal information.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
  • Request a portable copy of certain information.
  • Unsubscribe from promotional email at any time.
  • Complain to an applicable privacy or data-protection authority.

To make a request, email mnm@museandmilestravel.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate the relevant records. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Muse & Miles does not currently sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If those practices change, we will update this policy and provide legally required opt-out choices.

12. Children's privacy

Muse & Miles is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when services, technology, affiliates, payment options, analytics, or legal requirements change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or by email where appropriate.
